Guðmundur Haukur Sigurðsson
Guðmundur Haukur Sigurðsson, Northwind’s owner, is a qualified guide from the Icelandic School of Travel. Until now Guðmundur has occasionally worked as a driver and tourist guide. Guðmundur has detailed knowledge of Iceland, its history and culture and enjoys sharing that knowledge with others. For 30 years he was a health centre manager, and before that he managed a wool factory which knitted from Icelandic wool and also as a school teacher. Guðmundur can guide in English and Icelandic.
The German-born, but Icelandic resident for over 20 years, Katharina Ruppel is a driver-guide. She qualified as a guide from the University of Iceland in 2010, and recently completed her specialization in the North-West of Iceland. She is a book-keeper for the majority of the year, but part of the year she guides and/or drives travellers, primarily German speaking, around Iceland. She is knowledgeable about the country and its history. Katharina can guide in English, German, and Icelandic.
Eygló Hrund Guðmundsdóttir
Eygló Hrund Guðmundsdóttir is Guðmundur’s daughter. She is a distance-learner at the University of Iceland and works alongside her studies, among other responsibilities she is the general manager of the Youth Association of Vestur-Húnavatnssýsla (USVH). She assists her father in technical matters, manages bookings and takes care of marketing.
Our vehicles is a four-wheel drive Mercedes Benz Sprinter well-equipped for winter travel with free WiFi on board.
